Linear Blocks - Line into Shape
Instructor: Maria Shell
Two day class: Monday and Tuesday, March 25 & 26, 2019, 10 am to 4:30 pm
We are excited to welcome quilter Maria Shell to Port Gamble for the first time in the spring of 2019. Maria is an artist who uses her quilt making skills as a tool to explore the relationship of line and shape to color. Her book Improve Patchwork, Dynamic Quilts Made with Line and Shape was published by C&T in 2017. Maria has participated in a number of solo and group shows, has taught extensively, and her art has been commissioned and purchased by a number of public organizations.
Maria is committed to fostering original work and creativity in each of her students and her workshops are designed to be appropriate for a variety of skill levels. Her two day class at Quilted Strait will be a focus on using the log cabin block as well as other linear block shapes as a starting point for original and creative compositions. Topics covered in class will include improvisational piecing, contemporary quilt design and using lines to make shapes.
