Instructor: Melissa Carraway
Two Session Class: Sunday, March 24, 2019, 11 am to 4 pm (Part A & B) AND Sunday, April 28, 2019, 1 pm to 4 pm (Part C)
A three part class to introduce basic machine quilting techniques and then to practice becoming a pro! Part A and Part B will take place on the first day, one in the morning and the second after lunch. Part A of the class will be introducing you to getting your quilt top ready to be quilted and to practice a few basic techniques of machine quilting.
In part B of the class students will practice filling spaces with beautiful stitching. Many examples will be examined and studied so you will get a sense of what might work with your own style.
Part C is scheduled for a month after the first day of class. During this session you will actually quilt your own creation.
Very important for class is a sewing machine in good working condition. You will need a walking foot ( or a machine that has a duo feed) and a free motion foot. This foot can be open or closed toe, but I would encourage you to use the open toe one if possible because it gives you a better visual of where you are going with your stitching. For Part C you will need a quilt top that you will be able to quilt. Detailed information will be shared during the first session. Don’t worry about that now!!
