Instructor: Marybeth O'Halloran
One Session Class: Friday, March 1, 11 am to 2:30 pm
There's nothing that uses up scraps more quickly, or with more ease, and creative freedom than string piecing. Strings are skinny hunks of fabric that don't need rigorous cutting or organization, and if you don't have any in your scrap bucket, Marybeth will show you some easy ways to cut a bunch to fill your new string bucket. Then you will sew and stack and make a simple Chinese coin pattern that you're free to interpret any way you like. Learn how to substitute your string-pieced 'made' fabric for larger pieces of your favorite patterns. And for the more adventurous, try your hand at the string kaleidoscope pattern with easy die-cut wedges. Exert as much control over the process as suits you -- or pick your next string to sew from a paper bag full of tossed strings. The sparkling results might surprise and delight you!
