Come learn techniques for combining orphan blocks and spare parts into pleasing quilts that are as original as you are. Inspired by the term ‘Frankenquilt’ coined by Gwen Marston and Freddy Moran in their book Collaborative Quilting, we’ll explore medallion, collage, strip, log cabin, on-point, and alternate block settings. Plus we’ll cover some fun pieced borders to use as fillers, with both improv and traditional methods. Discover your unique sense of style, and , as your quilt composition unfolds.
Supplies — the usual sewing away from home assortment, plus your orphan blocks and spare parts bucket. Also bring a bit of coordinating fabric and/or scraps to work with and share if you choose. The book is a wonderful reference and is suggested but not required. I’ll bring my die cutter and lots of dies to make our filler pieces, and a few rulers, too.
