Sashiko is a Japanese embroidery, quilting, and mending practice that uses a simple running stitch to create bold and geometric patterns on textiles. With a focus on exploration of the craft, workshop participants will learn how to layout a simple grid, draw patterns, employ a Sashiko needle, and use “small stabs” to stitch designs onto their sampler squares. Choose from a variety of traditional patterns inspired by nature, culture, and architecture. The beautiful stitched Squares can be used as a patch, a pocket, a tiny bag or a coaster. All skill levels are welcome!
